Joint VBV/GNC Resiliency Meeting (in person / on site tour)

05/25/22 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

The Joint VBV / GNC Resiliency Task Force will meet on Wednesday, May 25 at 9:00 a.m. on the site of the Ohio Creek Watershed Project in Norfolk.  The MEB Group is the developer of the project and will have representatives on hand to discuss the project’s dynamics and to answer questions.

Our task force has discussed resiliency funding and our cities and state’s plans for addressing this challenge.  Our visit to the Ohio Creek project will be a unique opportunity to see one of the resulting projects.

The Ohio Creek Watershed Project is a holistic resilience project that will reduce flooding and improve public spaces. The Chesterfield Heights and Grandy Village neighborhoods were selected to participate in this transformational coastal improvement project. The $112 million project is designed to reduce flooding, improve public spaces, and ensure these communities thrive for years to come. The objectives of the Ohio Creek Watershed Project are:

  • Construction of flood protection, roadway realignment and the renovation of Grandy Village Park
  • Flood protection includes construction of earthen berms, wetland creations, and cast-in-place concrete walls
  • Utility replacement and upgrades in and around Chesterfield Heights and Grandy Village
