There is little debate that autonomous vehicles will be a major part of our transportation future.  The Virginia Beach City Council, at the Mid-Year Strategic Planning Session, identified “Becoming a Test Center for emerging transportation technologies” as an objective.  Councilwoman Jessica Abbott has specifically suggested that autonomous vehicles might be used to enhance our public transportation system.

So that VB Vision can be current on the emerging technologies and implications for our transportation network and influence over future community development, we will have Dwight Farmer, former Executive Director of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission and HR Transportation Planning Organization, meet with us.  Since his retirement from the HRPDC/HRTPO in 2014, Dwight has focused on autonomous vehicles and their implications on urban transportation.
