The Affordable Housing Task Force will meet on Tuesday, March 7 at 8:30 a.m. at Williams Mullen, 222 Central Park Avenue, 17th Floor, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.  Karen Prochilo, Housing Development Administrator, Housing and Neighborhood Preservation, City of Virginia Beach will provide an overview on the city’s role and the programs that address affordable housing.

The date for the 2023 March Board of Director’s meeting has been changed from its original published date of Wednesday, March 15th to Wednesday, March 22, 2023, and will be held at Centura College's business offices on South Boulevard, near Mt. The City Visioning Task Force will meet on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Clark Nexsen in Town Center, 4525 Main Street, 14th floor. Councilwoman Barbara Henley will be our guest speaker to share priorities for the city’s future, including her thoughts on the city’s opportunity to become a flood resiliency research hub.  

Bob Crum, HRPDC, will be our guest speaker and provide an update on regional initiatives.

The next Affordable Housing Task Force meeting will be on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. at Clark Nexsen in Town Center, 4525 Main Street, 14th floor, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Freddie Fletcher, Senior Development Manager, The Franklin Johnston Group, will be our guest speaker to address the “affordable” housing needs of the city and provide perspectives on barriers that are prohibitive to building accessible housing in Virginia Beach.

The Virginia Aquarium has presented its recommendations to City Council for major renovations to the existing main building and development of significantly expanded exhibit space and parking.  The project will require a large investment by the city as well as a capital campaign.  We will hold a special meeting on-site at the Virginia Aquarium on Thursday, April 20, 2023, beginning at 3:30 p.m. when we will receive a project briefing from Cynthia Spanoulis, followed by small group, behind-the-scenes tours.
