Previously Vision has hosted Tom Frantz at Board meetings to talk about the “megaregion” concept connecting the Richmond and Hampton Roads regions.  In August 2018 that initiative morphed into the RVA-Hampton Roads Collaborative.  With the launch of the GO Virginia program, grant monies have been made available for multiple regions and localities that collaborate on economic development initiatives.

At our June 12^th Board meeting John Martin, CEO & Managing Partner, Southeastern Institute of Research (SIR) will discuss “The RVA-HR Collaborative” and its multi-faceted focus areas.  Areas for collaboration include:

• mega site development;
• highway expansion;
• passenger rail;
• the Port of Virginia;
• Jefferson Lab’s efforts to compete for an electron-ion collider;
• Broadband;
• Entrepreneurship;
• talent development; and,
• creating an I-64 science and technology corridor.
