There will be a public hearing the first week of May to receive comment on the proposed Avangrid project. At our last meeting we heard from Ashley McLeod, Avangrid, about their Kitty Hawk Wind project and their desire to make landfall in Sandbridge.  At this next meeting we will have representatives of the Sandbridge community, John Spallone, Gabriele Mack, and Joe Bourne, as our guests to share the concerns about the project raised by the residents. Please plan to attend so that we have a balanced perspective of the project and its implications for the city.  

The next City Visioning Task Force meeting will be on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Clark Nexsen in Town Center, 4525 Main Street, 14th floor, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Vice Mayor Rosemary Wilson will be our guest speaker to share priorities for the city’s future.  

Steve Lawson, Chairman, The Lawson Companies, will be the guest speaker to address the opportunities and challenges to bringing affordable, workforce housing into Virginia Beach. Please R.S.V.P. via the calendar notice.

The June Board of Director’s will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Centura College's business offices on South Boulevard, near Mt. Trashmore – please look for the blue prism sculpture in the front (4455 South Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23454).  There is a parking lot near the building entrance as well as ample street parking nearby. Former Director of Planning, Barry Frankenfield, will be our speaker.  He will brief us on the development of the Envision 2040 plan, its elements and “bold steps,” as adopted by city council in 2012.  We will be subsequently reviewing the plan to identify modifications that will acknowledge progress made and will address changes in technologies and culture. This will provide us with direction in participating in the update to the Comprehensive Plan and to work with our elected and administrative leaders in charting a clear vision for the city.
