There will be a Joint VBV/GNC Resiliency Task Force meeting held on Wednesday, February 22 at 8:30 a.m. at Williams Mullen, 222 Central Park Avenue, 17th Floor, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.  Ben McFarlane, HRPDC, will be our guest speaker and discuss regional efforts towards managing sea level rise/recurrent flooding from the funding and logistics perspective as well as initiatives within the region. He will share information regarding successful state and federal programs leveraged by localities, where there are opportunities for improvement, and what impediments need to be overcome as well as how VBV/GNC might strengthen and further a “regional approach” to address mitigation. Please mark your calendar for the first meeting of the newly formed City Visioning Task Force, scheduled for Thursday, February 23 at 3:30 p.m. in the offices of Clark Nexsen in Town Center, 4525 Main Street, 14th floor. The Affordable Housing Task Force will meet on Tuesday, March 7 at 8:30 a.m. at Williams Mullen, 222 Central Park Avenue, 17th Floor, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.  Karen Prochilo, Housing Development Administrator, Housing and Neighborhood Preservation, City of Virginia Beach will provide an overview on the city’s role and the programs that address affordable housing.

The date for the 2023 March Board of Director’s meeting has been changed from its original published date of Wednesday, March 15th to Wednesday, March 22, 2023, and will be held at Centura College's business offices on South Boulevard, near Mt. Trashmore – please look for the blue prism sculpture in the front (4455 South Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23454).  There is a parking lot near the building entrance as well as ample street parking nearby. The City Visioning Task Force will meet on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Clark Nexsen in Town Center, 4525 Main Street, 14th floor. Councilwoman Barbara Henley will be our guest speaker to share priorities for the city’s future, including her thoughts on the city’s opportunity to become a flood resiliency research hub.  

Bob Crum, HRPDC, will be our guest speaker and provide an update on regional initiatives.

Freddie Fletcher, Senior Development Manager, The Franklin Johnston Group, will be our guest speaker to address the “affordable” housing needs of the city and provide perspectives on barriers that are prohibitive to building accessible housing in Virginia Beach.
